Every now and then, you come across an idea, a project, or a product that is so inspiring, you can’t wait to tell others about it!
That’s how I feel right now. I’m so excited I don’t know where to begin!
Let me tell you about a few things I love:
- helping other women
- inspiring change, equality, and hope in the world
- moms making money at home
- cute earrings
What in the world do these all have to do with each other?
They all come together in one amazing company!
Trades of Hope is a direct-sales company based in the US that empowers women around the globe to get out of poverty and hopelessness through job creation and sustainable business.
So many women live in poverty, not because they lack abilities, but because they lack opportunity. We started Trades of Hope to give women that opportunity for a better life. Each woman has a story, and with Trades of Hope’s help, their story has changed from pain and struggle to a story of HOPE!
We work with the artisans themselves and organizations that are helping women in difficult circumstances. Some women have been rescued from sex slavery. Others are raising handicapped children alone. Some are in war torn countries and others have AIDS. These women have never had the chances we’ve had, yet they are just like us in so many ways. They love their families and hope and dream of a better life for them. –Trades of Hope website
I learned about Trades of Hope when I went to a party my friend was having. I love those home party, direct sales businesses, because they are a fantastic way for moms to earn some extra money on their own time! It’s really amazing when you think about it. You can work as much or as little as you want. You can work from home with kids underfoot or while they’re at school. You can build a business in a few hours a day after your regular job, and sometimes, you can even replace that “regular job” income and find real freedom! Some people may get annoyed or think they’re scammy, but I have a huge heart for the direct sales industry. It’s GOOD for women! Direct sales empowers women (and men, but it’s especially awesome for busy moms) to achieve and earn without giving up their freedom of time and availability to their kids. 🙂
Because of my deep and abiding love for direct sales, I almost always purchase something from those women to support their businesses. Bonus!! It’s usually amazing products. Bonus two!! It often benefits my friend who is hosting a party. I usually end up hosting a party of my own.
So, let’s see… I can empower women in poverty, disease, and abuse, AND I can support a local stay-at-home mom who is trying to make ends meet?? Must be super expensive right?
The Trades of Hope line is very affordable. Check it out for yourself: Trades of Hope Website
In Kenya, people with disabilities are often forgotten and neglected. However, these artisans are being empowered physically, economically, and socially to be integrated back in to their communities.
I first bought them in silver and wore them with EVERYTHING.
I still wear them almost every day, but the new Summer insert came out and I saw these Nala Earrings. I knew I had to have them!
I’m head over heels.
I quickly told my friend Katy, a Compassionate Entrepreneur (Trades of Hope’s awesome name for their distributors), that I needed these! She sent me a set for free in exchange for writing this post, but I should have written this a long time ago anyway, just because I love this company so much! 🙂
Anyway, after I picked out my new Nala earrings, I realized, they are made by the same set of artisans in Kenya that made my beloved Bombolulu earrings!! I feel like I’m friends with those women now. I literally wear something they made with their own hands almost every day. It feels very connective.
Trades of Hope buys from artisans Thailand, Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda, India, Peru, Guatemala, Costa Rica, the United States, Haiti, Bangladesh, Jordan, Vietname, the Philippines, Columbia and Nepal!
As a Compassionate Entrepreneur, Katy has been selected to journey to Costa Rica and visit with the artisans there! I’ll be following her journey on her dedicated facebook page. If you’d like more info on Trades of Hope, the jewelry, or the trip to Costa Rica, email Katy at KatyTOHope@yahoo.com.
When I thought about my favorite earrings, how they’re fashionable, affordable, they benefit local work-at-home moms, and give precious women a hope for the future, I realized…
These just may be the best earrings in the world.
